She was predeceased by: her husband John Laing; her daughter Patricia Simpson; her son-in-law Glen Kingsley; her parents, Robert Oughton and Lillian Oughton; her parents-in-law, Elizabeth and Bob Laing; her siblings, Howard Oughton (Lucille), Robert Oughton (Rose), Helen Waggoner (Clint) and Ruth Platt (James); and her siblings-in-law, Doug Laing (Winnie), George Laing (Mary), Mary Shantz, Allison Nelson (Hamie) and Margaret Laing.

She is survived by: her daughter Donna; her grandchildren, Brian Kingsley (Jaye), Sandra Johnson (Jamie), Barton Simpson (Amanda) and Andria Goldau (Barret); her great grandchildren, Clara, Molly Kingsley, Daniel, Ally Johnson, Callie Simpson, Anela, Felix and Oliana Goldau; and her son-in-law Sheldon Simpson. She is also survived by many nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice in Jean's name.
