He was predeceased by: his former wife Jean Sykes; his stepsons, Herb McDonald, Bill McDonald, Don McDonald and Wes McDonald; his great grandchild Colin Stearns; and his sister Marion Good.

He is survived by: his wife Joan; his daughter Darlene Stearns of Winnipeg; his stepdaughter June Sykes (Fred) of Rivers; his brother Phil Sykes (Betty) of Brandon; his grandchildren, Rhonda Boulet (Paul) and Brian Stearns (Gillian); his great grandchildren, Tyler, Brandan, Rianna, Ivan, Ella, Livia Stearns and Scott; and his sisters-in-law, Linda Thornton, Joann Reid and Trent Reid.
