He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Brown and Lorraine Brown; his grandparents, George, Mabel Brown, Les and Sadie Smith; his uncles, George Smith, Roy Brown, Ron Brown and Don Taylor; and also, Olive and Maurice Fontaine.

He is survived by: his wife Brigitte Fontaine; his stepdaughters, Zoe Biggs and Isabel Biggs (Hyalmar); his sister Wanda (Warren Rainka); his cousin Kyle Smith (Lorraine); his aunts, Mabel Taylor, Ruth Smith and Sue Beatty; and his cousins, Nicole Taylor of Brigitte's, Lesley Taylor of Brigitte's, Craig Smith of Brigitte's and Mark Brown of Brigitte's.

Memorial donations may be made in Doug's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care, or a charity of one's choice.
