He was predeceased by: his wife Katharina Penner (Loewen); and his parents, Bernhard Penner and Katharina Penner. He is survived by: his children, Herb Penner (Val) and Martha Toews (Ron); and his grandchildren, Brody Toews and Bronson Toews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
