He was predeceased by: his mother Ingeborg Püschel Black; his birth father Johann Jähne (Hans); his stepfather Jesse W. Black III; and his sister Manuela Mühlberger (Stutz). He is survived by: his wife Virginia; his son Hans (Martha Reyes); his granddaughters, Alexis and Camille; his siblings, Ben (Kay-Marie) and Jesse (Karen); and his close friend Jim Johnston (Judy). He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
Despite Parkinson's Disease and its unrelenting tipping points and complications, Jochen sustained me with his love, emotional strength, patience, intellect, gentleness, and humour — how we laughed!
