He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Slater and Helen Slater; his parents-in-law, Donald and Janet Martin; and his daughter Susan Ann Vermette.

He is survived by: his wife Eleanor; his son Jim; his granddaughters, Catherine (Lee) and Aimee (Dean); and his son-in-law Mike. He is also survived by 1 brother in law and wife and family as well as nieces and nephews.
