He was predeceased by: his parents, Philippe Lafrenière and Imelda (Pinette); his siblings, Christian, Alain, Marcel and Odile; his siblings-in-law, Bart and Rose; and his son-in-law Lyndon Hickman.

He is survived by: his wife Denise (Davy); his children, Jacqueline (Grant Cline), Claudette (Richard Taillefer), Richard (Brigitte Fiola), René (Ginette Fiola) and Gérald (Nicole Normandeau); his brothers, Alcide and Emilien (Diane); his grandchildren, Chantal, Marcel, Christian, Robert, Eric, Véronique, Lianne, Josée and Stéphanie; and his great grandchildren, Maxim, Maya, Amelia, Nicholas, Théo, Sébastien, Caleb and Bauer.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Yves Lafrenière may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Diabetes Association.
