He was predeceased by: his wife Orysia "Button" McKechnie; his brother Ron; his sister-in-law Val McKechnie; his parents, Bill McKechnie and Pearl McKechnie; and his siblings-in-law, Fred and Anne Chaykowski.

He is survived by: his close friend Wally; his daughter Andrea Hallett (Sean); his grandchildren, Liam Hallett and Morgan Hallett; his siblings, Dorothy Palmer and Neil McKechnie (Fran); his sister-in-law Sylvia Pawlik; his pets, Lucy and Jack; his close friend Wendy Petersen; his siblings-in-law, Elmer Klock, Roman Pawlik, Mitch Palmer and Adeline Klock; his niece Michelle Klock; and his caregivers, Amma, Hazel, Jeron, Kris and Pam. He is also survived by grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and family.
