He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill McPherson and Alma McPherson; and his siblings, Elizabeth and Terry. He is survived by: his siblings, Bill and Alma McPherson of Bissett, MB.; his significant other Terry Turvey; his daughters, Tracy Makarenko (Mike) and Marilyn Halifax (Jimmy Youngberg); and his grandchildren, Brett Makarenko (Luke Burrows), Taylor Makarenko, Tibs Halifax and Connor Halifax. He is also survived by four siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 7th 2025 at 1:00 PM.
