Albert Patrick Ohrn Obituary
Pat left us on April 2, 2024. He was born in Lethbridge, Alberta in 1943. Pat lived a quiet life, much of it in White Rock, near Vancouver, BC.
While in White Rock, Pat lived at Ocean Park Village, where he was well-known and well liked. He was kind and gentle, loved everyone’s dogs, and was always willing to help others with household chores.
Pat volunteered with the strata for light maintenance duties and was a familiar sight on the grounds. He changed light bulbs, set out sprinkler hoses in summer, watered trees, plants and kept the birdbath full.
As a member of the strata council, he was the seconder-in-chief. Given his sharp and prodigious memory, he served as a walking resource on strata bylaws and rules.
He worked for CP Telecommunications and its successors and spent 26 years in the Canadian Army Reserves, retiring with the rank of Sergeant in 1998.
Pat was possibly the best customer of the nearby Morrison Cafe, where he knew most of the regulars and often had breakfast with friends.
He was a lifetime fan of the CFL’s BC Lions. As a young Air Cadet, he ushered at Lions games in old Empire Stadium in the 1950’s, where he spent as much time chatting up the cheerleaders as following the game action. In later years, he and his brother Ken would buy tickets for a few selected games (always including the Saskatchewan Roughriders) and meet at the big dome for games. He never failed to watch a Lions game broadcast on TV.
Pat lived a quiet life, but he still managed to touch the lives of people around him by finding ways to be of service and to be a positive part of things bigger than himself. He will be remembered with fondness.
We will hold an informal memorial between 1:30 and 3:00 pm on April 27, 2024, at the Gatehouse, Ocean Park Village, 12915 16th Ave., White Rock, BC.
