We bid farewell to Gwen Katherine Jahelka (Victoria, British Columbia), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on April 11, 2025 at the age of 58. Gwen touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. As Gwen departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Gwen. Though Gwen may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.

She was predeceased by: her mother Irene Shank. She is survived by: her father Ambrose Shank; her husband William Jahelka; and her children, Maris (Justin), Hilary (Lyndon) and Carly (Meg). She is also survived by her siblings, nieces, nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 21st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Andrews Cathedral - Victoria (740 View St, Victoria, BC V8W1J8). A reception will be held on Monday, April 21st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the St. Andrews High School (880 McKenzie Ave, Victoria, BC V8X3G5). A burial will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Ladysmith Cemetery (320 Christie Rd, Ladysmith, BC V9G1A1).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to The Girl Guides of Canada or Chalice Canada in honour of Gwen.
