He was predeceased by: his former wife Jean Handel; his wife Peggy Handel; his parents, Otto Handel and Katherina Handel; and his brother Jack Handel.

He is survived by: his sons, Brad Handel (Kathy) and Jerry Handel; his grandchildren, Kelsey Trottier, Kristy Handel, Kyla Handel and Kaylahn Dewhirst (Graham MacAulay); his great grandchildren, Ruby, Freya and Alithia; and his brother William Handel. He is also survived by numerous nieces nephews and other relatives.
