Obituary for Nicholaos Bordokas
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nicholaos Bordokas, who passed away on November 2, 2006, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the age of 79. Born in Amalia, Greece, Nicholaos lived a life defined by hard work, family devotion, and a love for the outdoors.
At a young age, Nicholaos moved to Athens, where he became a police officer, living with his aunt as he supported his family. He worked tirelessly to assist his mother, father, sisters, and brothers, ensuring they were well cared for. His sense of responsibility extended far beyond himself—he helped establish his family in the tourism business, including bus tour companies, which allowed them to thrive and build successful lives.
Nicholaos’s career as a motorcycle policeman in Athens eventually led him to become an investigator with Interpol, where his dedication to justice shone through. In the 1950s, he emigrated to Montreal, Canada, where he continued to work hard, taking on various roles throughout his life, including as a taxi driver, electrician, real estate agent, and small motor mechanic. No matter the role, Nicholaos’s work ethic and determination were unwavering.
In the early 1960s, Nicholaos and his wife, Niki, moved to Vancouver, where they lovingly raised their four sons: Constantine, Apostolos, George, and Joseph. Nicholaos cherished his time with his family, and some of their fondest memories were of spending time outdoors, exploring the mountains, fishing, and enjoying the sea. He taught his children the value of adventure, nature, and family, always offering a strong and loving presence.
Nicholaos was predeceased by his beloved wife, Niki, in 2014, and their firstborn son, Apostolos, who passed away on November 2, 2014—eight years to the day after Nicholaos. A daughter who passed before birth is also lovingly remembered by the family. Today, Nicholaos rests in peace alongside Niki and Apostolos.
He is survived by his sons, Constantine, George, and Joseph, who will continue to honor his legacy of strength, dedication, and love for family.
Nicholaos will be remembered for his kind heart, incredible work ethic, and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures. His family remains eternally grateful for the life they shared with him, and the memories they hold will forever be a guiding light.
May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his loved ones in serene harmony.
