He is survived by: his spouse Samanthi Samarakoon; his siblings, Kirthi Samarakoon, Devika Amunugama and Lalith Samarakoon; his grandchildren, Avin and Iren; and his extended family, Anoma, Manjula, Thushari, Shyama, Mahinda, Lakshmi, Sandya, Rane, Aruni and Jayantha.

His expertise and leadership were widely recognized, and he made significant contributions to the advancement of his field.
