He was predeceased by: his parents, Tsunekichi Sugiyama and Yasuko Sugiyama (Betty); his daughter Linda; and his siblings, Yoshio, Mitsuo, Haruo, Yukio, Isamu and Jean.
He is survived by: his wife Betty; his children, Tom and Michelle; his son-in-law John; and his grandchildren, Kiera, Antonio, Biagio and Kalea.
