He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Pat Couture (Bryan) and Brad McStay (Pat); his grandchildren, Carolyn McStay, Mike McStay, Amy Fast and Elise Couture; his great grandchildren, Hunter, Nash, Paige and Macey; his sister Donna Delvecchio (Sante); his wife Clare; his son Tom McStay; his parents, John McStay and Margaret McStay; and his siblings, Jack, Bruce, Rosemary, Betty, Shirley and June. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Donald's name to either the Hilltop House Support Society or the Squamish Hospital Foundation.
