He is survived by: his wife Janet; his children, Jennifer (Jim), Karen and Graeme (Carol); his grandchildren, Laura (Stephen), Bob (Natasha), Andrew and Nathan; his great grandchildren, Patrick and Aaron; his sister Nancy Mellis; and his nephews, Mitchell, Gregory and Timothy.
Colin was elected Fellow of the Royal Society for his contributions to the conceptual foundations of biological resource management and behavioural ecology.
