Marguerite Irma (Kountzelman) Lockwood Obituary
On April 1st, 2020, Marguerite (Peggy) Lockwood our Mother, Grandmother, GreatGrandmother, Great, Great Grandmother, Auntie and Friend passed on to her next adventure. She was 97 years of age.
Peggy was born on July 9th, 1922 in Vancouver, BC to Catherine Wells and her Stepfather Louis Kountzelman. She was raised during the Great Depression and learned to help her family survive. Her mother passed when Peggy was only sixteen so she had to quit school to look after her family consisting of her Dad, Brother Clifford and Sister Kay.
Later, during the war she worked for Boeing as a real life Rosie the Riveter.
Later still she married my Dad, Percy Raymond Lloyd (Ray) and had two children, Carol and Bruce.
Life was not easy for Peggy. Her marriage failed and she was left to raise two children on her own at a time when being a single Mother was even more difficult than it is today.
Much later she married Scotty Lockwood.
Peggy eventually lived for over twenty years at Fairhaven Burnaby Lodge and then moved to Prince George, BC at Gateway Lodge to be near family.
We all hope she is dancing (she dearly loved to dance) in her beautiful red shoes and looking over us in peace.
