It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Daryl Leonard Smith (Powell River, British Columbia), born in Port Alberni, British Columbia, who passed away on February 1, 2020, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his grandfather Daryl Smith; his wife Doreen; his grandchildren, Coral-Leigh, Kai, Reese, Kalissa and Aiden; his sister Carolynne (Gerry); his parents, Charles and Olive; and his son Sheldon. He was also cherished by three children.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour his life and work are invited to make donations in his name to Canuck Place or BC Children's Hospital.

“I am very sadden to hear of Daryl's passing and my heart goes out to the Smith Family and the Pacific Coastal Family. Daryl was a warrior and everything he did he did with passion and commitment. He never failed to defend his beliefs, family and PASCO. I have great memories of spending time with Daryl and Doreen at their home in Powell River and fishing with him and Quentin in River's Inlet during my AirBC days. He was a great man and will be greatly missed. I am thinking of you during this time”
