David Melvin Smith Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Melvin Smith (Port Alberni, British Columbia), born in Quesnel, British Columbia, who passed away on July 13, 2021, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his grandson Jared Hill; his parents, David Smith and Kathleen Smith; and his siblings, Roxy Quick, Edwin Smith, Keith Smith (Laura), Lois Rye (Orlan) and Anne Stanford.

He is survived by: his wife Betty; his daughters, Kathy Hill (Ross), Maureen Smith, Debbie Smith and Heather Smith; and his grandchildren, Jane Hill (Owen), Joel Hill (Rob), Alex Thorne (Josh), Laura Thorne and Emma Thorne. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

We are grateful to the many kindnesses of the staff at the Gardens in Qualicum Beach, who cared for him this past year while Covid prevented us from being with him.
