He was predeceased by: his parents, Hebert August Wilhelm Stein and Gerda Stein; his brother Jurgen; and his former wives, Bonita Stein (Brunt) and Sharon Stein (Brown).

He is survived by: his wife Marion Stein; his sons, Erik (Shani) of Surrey, Reece and David Johnston (Tiffany) of Westbank; his brother Thomas (Reiner) of Oranienburg; his stepmother Edeltraud Stein of Berlin, Germany.; and his friend Manfred Melzer.
