He was predeceased by: his parents, Iris DeVeau (Bob Ballantyne) and Sam DeVeau; his brother Ross; his parents-in-law, Joan and Stewart Nicholas; his stepson Damen; his sister-in-law Jan (George); and also Eric Searle.

He is survived by: his wife Gail; his children, Dana DeVeau-Smith and Mat DeVeau; his stepdaughter Skylar Pepin; his grandchildren, Jacob (Kelsey), Olivia, Griffin and Charlie; his brother Ron DeVeau (Gail); and his siblings-in-law, Keith Nicholas and Kay. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
