He is survived by: his children, Nicole (Steven Bodnaruk), Jocelyn, Wade Arave and Ayla (Sadiq Abubakar); his grandchildren, Simone, Eli, Luke Bodnaruk, Emerson, Norah Arave, Ayden and Zayn Abubakar; his siblings, Alan, Jacqueline Akehurst and Margaret Akehurst; and his nieces and nephews, Daryl, Paul, Jason, Diane and Mandy.
