“Stan used to walk across the street where we both lived on 2nd Street in New Westminster. He was 8 years older than me. He asked if I wanted to help him practice batting. Sure!!! We would go over to the Herbert Spencer School Playground. I would pitch hard balls while he stood at the plate. He would knock those balls into outer space (He was a pro.). When we went thru the bucket of balls I would chase after them and re-fill the bucket. Then back to the diamond to start all over again.”
