He was predeceased by: his parents, Dimock Heighton and Johanna Heighton (Swanson); his wife Henny; his son Ralph; his brothers, Stanley, George, Clarence and Donald; and his sisters-in-law, Edna and Ethel.

He is survived by: his daughter Elke (Paul); his grandchildren, Danny, Justin, Nigel, Jessica, Jennnifer (Nick), Ryan, David, Cassandra, Misha (Adam), Gordon (Shandi), Trinity, Eric and Thomas; his sister Joan; his daughter-in-law Carmen; and his nieces, Sheila (Dan), Barb (Tyler) and Lori (Ken). He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren.
