He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Evelyn; his daughters, Katherine (Iain), Robin and Sylvia (Pat); his granddaughters, Lena, Joy (Michael) and Autumn; his stepchildren, David and Elizabeth (Randy); his stepgrandchildren, Jordan (Julia), Julien (Ayden) and Erin; and his parents, Lena Phillips (Rayner) and Emmerson Phillips. He was also cherished by his children, grandchildren, stepchildren and step-grandchildren.

William Emerson Phillips died August 9, 2023 at his home in Nanaimo, BC, from complications related to Alzheimer's Disease and vascular dementia.
