He was predeceased by: his parents, Orest Melnyk and Willa Melnyk; and his sister Mona Tansowney. He is survived by: his wife Laurel Karjala; his stepdaughters, Anne Frobeen and Kate Frobeen; and his brothers-in-law, Gordon Guenette (Linda) and Ernie Karjala (Lianne).
