He was predeceased by: his father Conrad Geleynse; and his brother-in-law Del Otter. He is survived by: his children, Christina Johnston (Scott), Jade Geleynse (John Hamilton) and Douglas Anderson (Geri); his stepdaughter Summer Merrills (Casey); his mother Jeanette Geleynse; his siblings, Marcia Otter, Janice Crabtree (Chris), Connie Magana, David Geleynse (Charlotte), Dean Geleynse, Duane Geleynse (Nina), Lloyd Geleynse, Denise Brower (Eric) and Darlys Kimmie (Manny); and his close friend Dawn Higginbottom. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Christian Children's Fund of Canada, a charity that was special to Doug.
