He is survived by: his close friend Midge Albers; his former wife Helen Smyth; his son James David Smyth (Char) of Victoria; his grandchildren, Margaret Paige and Jordyn Elizabeth; his daughter Patricia Lindsay Thomas (Dean); his granddaughters, Madelyn Lindsay and Abigail Catherine; his nephews, Allen Douglas Smyth and Chal Mathew Smyth; and also Wendy Albers.
