He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Shiva Bhai Patel and Sumitra Bai Patel; his wife Prabha Wati Patel; his children, Brian, Rina, Ryan and Kris; and his granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Sophia Patel.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
