He was predeceased by: his parents, Greta Whalen and Mike Whalen; his wife Sally Simon; and his grandchildren, Isabel Gaudet and Albert Gaudet.
He is survived by: his children, Mary-Ann Whalen of Paddle Prairie, AB, Andrew Montgomerie-Whalen of Edmonton, AB and Eldon Whalen of Hazelton, BC; his stepchildren, Tina Simon Spooner of Mackenzie, BC, Judi Simon of Prince George, BC and Don Simon of Quesnel, BC; and his brothers, Jerry Whalen of Matheson, ON and Michael of Matheson, ON. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
