He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed and Shirley; his grandmother Minnie; his brother Eddie; and his uncle Bob.

He is survived by: his siblings, Ed and Shirley Brown; his wife Tammy Bristle; his parents-in-law, Marvin and Marilyn Bristle; and his brother-in-law Gary Bristle (Jill Lechner). He is also survived by several other extended family members and many wonderful friends.

Mark embodied community spirit, supporting several local organizations including the Elk Valley Rod & Gun Club and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

“My sincerest condolences to Mark's family at this time. Mark left us too soon and it leaves a huge void in us all and the community. He was THE iconic Fernie-ite and when one thought of Fernie, it also meant Mark Brown (and the Brown Family). Although we left in 2001, Mark never forgot our names whenever we stopped in. I hold dear his capacity to remember names, his kindness and genuine interest, community spirit and his unpretentiousness. I'm honored to have known Mark.”
