He was predeceased by: his wife Phyllis Willson; his parents, James and Emily; his brother Jim; his daughter Marg Strang; and his grandson Bob Strang.

He is survived by: his children, Cathy Strong (Reg) and Doug Bennie (Joan); his grandchildren, Larry, Brenda, Heather, Leah and Ian; and his brother-in-law Tom Willson (Brenda). He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
