He was predeceased by: his son Richard; his brother Casey; and his brothers-in-law, John and Bill. He is survived by: his spouse Jenny (Westra); his children, Peter (Trudy), Stan (Crystal), Larry (Jeanette) and Patricia (Leo Ludwig); his siblings, Corrie van Steensel, Mary Miedema, Arie (Dienie), Peter (Henny), Joe (Shirley) and John (Leny); and his sister-in-law Florence.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerry's name to Knox Presbyterian Church.
