It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nicole Denise Lightning (Wetaskiwin, Alberta), who passed away on January 2, 2025, at the age of 49, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her daughter Feather Nepoose; her grandparents, Louie and Eva Lightning; and her cousin Darrel Lightning. She is survived by: her children, Harvey Applegarth, Sarina Nepoose, Gage Nepoose (Carly) and Christine Nepoose (Talon); her mother Marlene Lightning; her grandchildren, Sabastian "Sabby", Jullian "Jules", Katarina, Minia, Zerek, Zaylene and Danzel; her goddaughter Gena Lightning; and her sisters, Mel (Vinnie), Elaine and Jolene. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.

A wake was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 4:00 PM and on Monday, January 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the JIM Omeasoo Cultural Centre.
