He was predeceased by: his sister Doreen; his parents, Robert and Ruth; his nephew Roy; his stepfather Ferdinand; and his brother Erich.

He is survived by: his wife Deanna; his son Robert Grohn (Marianne); his grandchildren, Evan, Brennon and Erica; his daughter Wendy Maltais (Mark); his grandchildren, Claire and Michael; his daughter Shelly McCubbing (Ray); his grandchildren, Lauren, Cady, Macy and Jack; his siblings, Erna Stilet, Arnold Grohn (Linda), Alfred Gunsch (Elaine) and Harvey Gunsch (Ronda); and his sister-in-law Herta Grohn.
