He was predeceased by: his parents, Lily Stewart and John Stewart; his mother-in-law Mary Wharton; and his sister Patricia Hearn (Balmoral Castle). He is survived by: his cousin Marion; his significant other Angie; his children, Jeffrey (Zoe), Justin (Marianne), Michael (Rhea) and Alison (Brodie); his grandchildren, Gabrielle, Kaitlyn, Connor, Elliott, Cain and Natalie; his great grandchild Leo; his siblings, Colin (Betty), Sheena (Kevin), Marion (Doug), Don (Geri) and Richard (Karen); his pet Scottie; and also Sheena. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
