He was predeceased by: his wife Jutta; his siblings, Theodore Hemmerling, Samuel Hemmerling, Gerhard Hemmerling, Elsie Kuschminder (Klaus), Rose (Wally), Herter and Herbert Hemmerling; and his brother-in-law Axel Sedtke.
He is survived by: his children, Judy Schafers (Shane) and David Hemmerling (Colleen); his close friend Hedy Ganske; his grandchildren, Devin Schafers, Jilene Schafers (Oso), Riley Young (Tanner) and Ryan Hemmerling; his sisters, Gail Hauer (Gus), Gerda Martin and Edline Jacobi (Ron); and his sisters-in-law, Senta Besler (Reinhold), Gerda Bonkowski, Norma Hemmerling, Sandy Hemmerling and Helga Hemmerling. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
