He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Chesterman and Blanche Chesterman; and his siblings, George, Thomas and Arthur Chesterman.

He is survived by: his wife Helen; his children, Dean Chesterman of Edmonton, Alberta, Brenda Lara (Carlos) of Wainwright, Grant Chesterman (Karen) of Edgerton and Daisy Chesterman of Wainwright; his grandchildren, Carlos Lara (Loan), Michael Lara (Nataliia Golovanova), Joseph Lara (Christina Bates), Nicolas Lara, Cole Chesterman, Ryan Chesterman, Amber Chesterman and Beth Chesterman; his great grandchild Anna-Sofia Lara; and his sister-in-law Kay Chesterman.

If so desired the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or to the Cross Cancer Institute.
