He was predeceased by: his parents, Wolfgang Harpe and Anne-Marie Harpe; his parents-in-law, Mark and Lottie Hanson; and his brother-in-law Don Ulrich.

He is survived by: his wife Anne; his children, Andre Harpe (Diane), Laurel Sheridan (Philip) and Rita Sawchuk (Todd); his grandchildren, Tatiana Harpe (Marcus), Ariane Harpe (Dakota), Aarika Harpe, Jennifer Allison (Jordan), Tim Lepp, Kennedy Zagrodney (Logan), Randy Sheridan (Keira), Darby Sawchuk, Alex Sawchuk (Megan), Andrew Sawchuk (Jenyce) and Simon Sawchuk; his great grandchildren, Bailey Allison, Benjamin and William Sheridan; his siblings, Regine Kutzner (Albert), Gabriele Ailey (Brian), Anne-Carine Harpe, Ilse Harpe (Rick), Olaf Harpe (Tara) and Daisy Harpe (Glenn); and his sisters-in-law, Catherine Hanson (Ken) and Joyce Ulrich. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard's memory may be made to the Valhalla Lutheran Church (Box 49 Valhalla Center, AB, T0H 2M0).
