He is survived by: his wife Irene Merkle; and his children, Pam Karras (Brian) of Taber, Valerie (Vince Herron) of Innisfail, Karen Webster of Taber, Lorelei Harrison of Taber, Daniel Merkle (Carol) of Lethbridge, Mark Merkle of Taber, Anthony Merkle (Kim) of Okotoks, Jarilyn Weaver and Sarah Merkle of Taber. He is also survived by his nineteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
