Gerald Walter Samide Obituary
In simplest terms, a man of humble grace left this life on June 16th at roughly 2:30pm. Perhaps exactly the way he would have wanted. Suddenly and with no pain you slid into the other side of forever. Father's Day huh, you figured this way we would have to celebrate you big every year. As if we could ever forget. Your biggest legacy is perhaps in proving that it works if you work it.
Not just sobriety but life. This is the part where we are supposed to list all of your accomplishments and then a list of all of us left standing missing you, grieving you, sharing the stories of your life. Truth is accomplishments were never important neither was stuff. You would joke, "is this the part where we play cash register and compete with shiny things?".
Your life was built on a deep understanding, that you were here to focus on way harder things: a relationship with god as you understood him, children with both exceptional gifts and exceptional needs, and most importantly growing in connection and love as you walked beside one woman for fifty three years. The Mary to your Gerry.
