He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Schultz and Mina Schultz; and his brothers, Willard and Eddie. He is survived by: his wife Lydia; his children, Donna Bertsch (Jeff), Karl Schultz (Verle-ann), Kelly Schultz (Val) and Wendy McKimmie (James); and his sister Eileen Risseuw. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
