She was predeceased by: her husband Leslie "Tuffy"; her daughter Lesley Marie Baird; her parents, David Kernaghan and Nettie Kernaghan; and her siblings, Gerald, Melvin, Robert, Donna, Audrey, Sharon, Jackie and Linda.

She is survived by: her daughter Kathy of Ontario; her granddaughter Jilian (Charles); her great grandchild Owen; her daughter Judy; her grandson T. J.; her great grandchild Deakan; her grandson Aaron; her great grandchild Seth; her grandchildren, Joshua and Jana; her son Ronnie Roberts (Cecilia); her grandson Jessie; her great grandchildren, Joshua and Jaydene; her grandchildren, Angelia and Cory; her great grandchild Acer; her sister Norma Kernaghan; and also Winston (Grace).

Joan will be cremated as per her wish, and due to Covid restrictions, no service will be held at this time.
