He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Putnam and Marge Putnam; his wife Helen; his son Kerry Putnam; and his sisters, Doris Thurston and Margaret Eberl.

He is survived by: his children, Lorne Putnam, Elaine Connolly (Ed), Laurel Young (David), Heather Bishop and Nola Newitt (Lorne); his grandchildren, Trevor, Tyler, Nicholas, Patrick, Stephanie, Scott, Devon, Richard, Dillon and Cailey; his great grandchildren, Aidan, Emma, Ava, Mia, Brooklyn, Isabella and Oscar; and his caregiver Sandra.
