He was predeceased by: his wife Irene; his parents, Petrea and Herbert; his sister Helene; and his great grandchild Quinton.

He is survived by: his children, Melicia Yaskow (Lawrence), Steven Knappe (Candace), Anita Layh (Mike) and Suzan Dodd (Dustin); and his siblings, Margaret Sailer (Clayton), Birk Knappe (Stella) and Terri Douglas (Brian). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
