Jim Mahoney wrote a sympathy message

“It’s a treasured time when I had the privilege to work with Jerry and see the unique individual he was, and how it became evident when it came to his field of expertise and in dealing with him, you could count on him undoubtingly and unwavering. And at gatherings for, or away from work Jerry had an admirable mixture of focused leader, grumpy pragmatist and realist, mischievous wheeler-and-dealer, still-bubbling-out kid having a great time with what he was doing, and someone who could see and express humor in so many things in so many ways. I wanted to be like him. And get-togethers of any sort, work or otherwise, were just not the same when he wasn’t present. Now those for sure indicate an impactful person, and indeed Jerry was that and more. And it’s not to say that he did not have to deal with problems or issues associated with work. Oh man did he have to deal with them. And then we’d get the benefit of Jerry’s very creative, imaginative and expressive coining of phrases / dare I say swearing, that had your mind thinking in new ways, and never knew words could be arranged in that completely-on-target, not necessarily cursing way. Now his Maker will be getting chuckles when Jerry goes on and on with many more new inventive expletive phrases for being called up way too early. We’re with you on that Jerry, and can just about hear you now, and adding a few of our own. Here’s to the honor of having known and worked with you … you *)?)^~ and /^<)@? of a #@>*\< respected coworker; and =}$]^: with !!]$)\ as a #:$<%] admirable friend; and most certainly a {){>%: yet <=)>#; amazing &~~&}@ good man. No doubt I became a better person for having known you at one point in our lives, and of course others like me and so many more will miss you. Jim Mahoney”

Richard Milliken wrote a sympathy message

“Dear Kim and family, Linda & I were deeply saddened to hear of your loss. Jerry was a great friend. He was always good for a laugh or a curse, good advice, a gruff shove in the right direction or a shoulder to lean on. I'm still in awe of the things he did and what he accomplished where others would have given up. I can only imagine how much he will be missed by you and the boys and their families. If there is anything, now or anytime, that we can do to help please let us know. ([email protected])”

Michael Palmer wrote a sympathy message

“There was never a man like Jerry Duiker and there never will be. He was good to me from the first time I met him in Aktau, so many years ago. I could never count the hours that I have laughed because of him. He was definitely one of the reasons why Nations Energy was successful. I loved Jerry and even though it was a long time since I saw him, I miss him.”
