He is survived by: his parents, Oscar Bates and Elsie Margaret Bates; his great grandchild Frank; his children, Mike Bates (Sherrie) of Gadsby, Pat Bates (Elaine) of Markerville, Tim Bates (Brigitte) of Santiago, Dana Bates (Basia) of Edmonton and Al Hunter (Karen) of Calgary; his grandchildren, Laurie DeLeon of Gadsby, Lisa Greiner (Len) of Gadsby, Lee Bates (Melanie) of Gadsby, Casey Sayles (Jacquelin) of Gadsby, Kirby Sayles (Josephine) of Cremona, Angela Bates of Spruce Grove, Nicole Bates (Chris Dolan) of Cranbrook, Heather Kohen Shannon (Andy) of Calgary, Christina Bates of Calgary, Andrew Bates of Calgary, Jonathan Bates of Calgary, Jeff Hunter of Calgary and Lisa Hunter of Calgary; his great grandchildren, Faith, Miguel, Tyler, Derek, Jordan, Mackenzie, Haley, Hannah, Sierra, Alexus, Kirby Jr., Levi and Austin; and his sister-in-law Isabel Nixon of Stettler. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many dear friends.
