He was predeceased by: his parents, Eduard and Rosamunde; his stepfather Karl; and his brothers, Klaus and Albert.

He is survived by: his wife Irma; his children, Ed (Teresa) and Ronda; his grandchildren, Travis, Erin, Nicole and Tyson; and his siblings, Lina (Ben), Horst (Evelyn), Gary and Fred (Reimie, family: Adeline, Bert, Arnie). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
