He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Atkinson and Grace Atkinson; and his brother Gordon Atkinson. He is survived by: his wife Leona; his daughters, Leslie (Ron) and Tracy (Kevin); his stepdaughters, Heather (Mike) and Michelle; his grandchildren, Dylan, Ebony (James), Wesley, Dalton (April), Cortney (Kyler), Shelby Kelsey (Steven), Ryan and Zachary; his great grandchildren, Zaiden, Gerard and Nova; his brother Brian Atkinson (Joan); and his sister-in-law Joan Fieber. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
